In the Wayne Thiebaud Sweet Shop, we drew lots of different foods with oil pastels. There was a variety of foods drawn from cupcakes, to cakes, and so much more. I thought this was pretty cool and fun to blend the oil pastels to make really pretty colors!!

We created collages inspired by Trompe I'oeil. We glued a bunch of random objects to a piece of paper and then got another piece of paper copying that. In my opinion, I thought this was very difficult. It was tough drawing something 3D and looking at it at different perspectives. We had to shade the shadows and blend colors that would match up. Overall, i thought mine didn't come out terrible but I definitely could've fixed it a little bit and tweak it.
I thought embroidery was very fun and an interesting thing to learn. I've sewn before but I loved learning all the new skills. To start, we'd have our materials, the hoop, the needle, and the embroidery floss. First you would put the felt in the hoop to make it stretch and then I would trace what I would be stitching. Then, I'd put the embroidery floss through the needle and start the stitching. We learned 8 different stitches and they all looked amazing. This month we did printmaking. First we used little printing blocks that felt like erasers and used a carving tool to make designs on it. Then, we used a brayer and rolled it in ink then over the printing block then on a piece of paper. Then, we took it to the next level and started carving on linoleum and made big prints. I carved out a big palm tree and used 2 colors and 2 pieces of paper. The first one I did black paint on green paper and then I did white paint on yellow paper. I feel like those colors were very connected to the palm tree and it went well with it because it’s like tropical.
In this unit we made pottery. We used the clay and made them into so many different things. From cups to plates to Christmas decorations! I created four things. I made a snowman, a pig cup, a sapphire blue cup, and a purple plate. They all look so good and I really loved this unit!
We did a watercolor bootcamp for a couple weeks and I made two pieces. The first one I made was a sillouette of a palm tree over the ocean with a sunset in the back. The second one I made was small houses in front of mountains with a point perspective. I loved experiementing with new colors and blending different colors together. Water color was definitely my favorite project this year.
I hear classical music I smell paint I love myself I have seen everything I want this painting of myself to be done I feel bored William Eden Gift of Thomas H. Lee and Ann Tenenbaum Birthday 1769 to 1830 Explore the MFA Website Wish You Were Here Alfred Stieglitz Collection—Bequest of Georgia O'Keefe I hear birds chirping, the leaves moving because of the wind I smell pine trees I need to get a jacket because its fall and its kinda chilly I am going to look around the forest I feel happy I want to explore Dear Friend, I am writing to you from a forest in America. This is the 1880s to the 90s. The setting here is absolutely beautiful. It's a chilly autumn day and the weather is perfect. I'm just walking on the grassy path through the woods enjoying the sights around me. Drawing on the right side of the brain I thought was really cool. I struggled a bit in the upside down drawing but it made me have to think sometimes. The contour hands and shaded hands were so fascinating and fun to do; I really enjoyed doing it. Next we did the how to use pen and ink bootcamp. I loved this because it was so cool how the ink pen flowed and I just loved the look of it. Painting was definitely my favorite. I loved the way the colors looked when you blended them together and I loved how the brush stroke looked. And I liked how we had an option of what to paint.
I kinda liked this project. I found it kinda tough at some points to find a place to shade a shadow but I thought it was cool because it looked so real.
